Privacy Policy
In short: Lamplight is a note-taking app. Your notes are stored only on your device. You don't need an account, we don't show ads, we don't track you, and we never sell data. The only information that leaves your device is what is needed to deliver notifications, check for app updates and load the app's fonts, as described below.
1. Who we are
Lamplight ("the app") is published by Xaylon ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and the choices you have. If you have any question about it, contact us at techtowndevelopers@gmail.com.
2. Information that stays on your device
The following is created and stored only on your device. We do not receive it and cannot see it:
- Your notes — titles, text, corrections, the paper design of each sheet, and dates.
- Your preferences — theme, lamp, typewriter model, typeface, text size, default paper, haptics, sounds and notification setting.
Your device's own backup system may include this data in your personal backups (for example Android Auto Backup to your Google account, or an iCloud or computer backup on iOS). Those backups are controlled by you and by Google or Apple under your account and their privacy policies; we have no access to them.
3. Information processed by third-party services
We do not operate our own servers. To provide a few features, the app uses the services below. We only use them for the purposes stated, and none of them receive the contents of your notes.
| Service | What is processed | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) | A push-notification token and a Firebase installation ID for your app install; basic device information (such as OS version and app version); IP address | To deliver notifications you have allowed, including announcements to all users |
| Firebase Remote Config (Google) | Firebase installation ID, app version, platform; IP address | To tell the app whether an update is required |
| Google Fonts (Google) | IP address and standard request information when a typeface is downloaded | To display the app's typewriter typefaces |
| Google Play (Android) | Handled by the Google Play app on your device | To check for and install app updates |
| Apple App Store (iOS) | The app's bundle identifier, your region code and IP address | To check whether a newer version is available |
These providers process this information under their own policies: Google Privacy Policy, Privacy and Security in Firebase, Google Fonts privacy FAQ and Apple Privacy Policy. Information handled by these services may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States, with the safeguards those providers apply.
4. What we do not do
- We do not require or offer accounts, sign-in or profiles.
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, location, or the contents of your notes.
- We do not show advertising and do not use advertising identifiers.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services.
- We do not sell, rent or trade any information.
5. Sharing notes
When you tap Share, the app creates an image and text of that sheet on your device and hands it to your device's share menu. You choose where it goes (for example a messaging app). We are not involved in, and do not receive, anything you share this way; the app you share to handles it under its own policy.
6. Permissions
- Notifications — to show notifications. Asked for at first launch; you can turn it off at any time.
- Internet (Android) — for the services in section 3.
- Vibration (Android) — for key-press haptic feedback. Nothing is recorded.
The app does not access your camera, microphone, location, contacts or photo library.
7. Your choices and controls
- Notifications: turn them off in Lamplight → Settings → Notifications (this also deletes the notification token), or in your device settings.
- Delete a note: open it and tap the delete button, or long-press it on the home screen and choose Tear up this sheet. It is removed from your device.
- Delete everything: uninstall the app. This removes all notes and settings from your device and ends all processing described here.
8. Data retention and deletion
Notes and settings are kept on your device until you delete them or uninstall the app. Because we don't have them, we cannot recover them for you.
Notification tokens and installation IDs are retained by Firebase only while they are in use; Google deletes Firebase installation IDs and associated data that become inactive (see Firebase's data retention terms). If you want us to request deletion of any Firebase data linked to your app install, email techtowndevelopers@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
9. Security
Your notes stay in the app's private storage on your device, protected by your device's own security (such as your screen lock and device encryption). Communication with the services in section 3 is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS).
10. Children
Lamplight is a general-audience app and is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through the app, contact us and we will help delete it.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK, or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information, to object to processing, and to data portability, as well as the right to complain to a data protection authority. Because your notes never leave your device, you already have full control over them. For anything else, email techtowndevelopers@gmail.com; we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.
Where the GDPR applies, the legal basis for the processing in section 3 is our legitimate interest in delivering and maintaining the app (fonts, update checks) and your consent for notifications, which you can withdraw at any time.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. We will change the "Last updated" date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or in the release notes. The current version is always available at this address.
